the last first day of preschool

The day has come...the last first day of preschool for the last Karaffa child.  I am starting my last year of preschool, and I am excited.  I love going to school & seeing my friends.  This year, I will be in the 4 year old class, so I will go Monday-Thursday from 9-1.  I always get to pick out my backpack and lunchbox, and this year, Mommy let me have whatever I wanted, even if they were mismatched things. 😉  I was all ready to go on my first day of school.

Preschool, here I come!

Such a cutie!
I love Paw Patrol, so of course, I picked a Paw Patrol backpack.
And, I picked a cactus lunchbox, mostly because I liked the way I could carry it.  And, I loved my dress & sparkle shoes.
All smiles
Hard to believe (for Mommy, at least) that I am already starting my last year of preschool.  Time just goes so fast!

just emmersyn...part 2

Just having a little fun with Daddy's hat...& enjoying time with just Mommy again while the older 3 started back to school and I still haven't started back to preschool quite yet.

the first day of school again

Hard to believe summer break is officially over...and, it's back to school...again (at least for 3 of us).  Summer sure seems to fly by, but not without lots of memories, laughs, and good times.  And, what a great summer we had.  Always bittersweet to start school again, but we are always ready to see our school friends again...just not always ready for the homework and early morning wake up calls. We are thankful that school is a 5 minute drive away, and we are most thankful for a Christian school where we can openly talk about Jesus with our teachers & friends...and where our teachers sit & pray with us and for us.  Daddy & Mommy are praying for us, for our school year, and for our teachers.

All ready for another great school year!

summer bowling & roller skating

Two of the other summer activities we enjoyed were bowling and roller skating  For summer bowling, Oma got to join us for the fun almost every time we went which made it even more fun...always trying to see who could win.  And, then, we also loved roller skating...going back to the place where Mommy went when she was little.  (They have renovated it since then...).  Lots of fun times together.

All ready to skate... 💙
We kids are ready...
Brady went out there and just embraced it...falls and all.  But, he got the hang of it really quickly again.
With the help of Daddy (& Mommy), Emmersyn was loving it...
...& the skate mate is a great help, too!
She sure thought she was a pro!
Brecken needed some help at first, but he was so determined to get the hang of it...
...& he sure did...using the wall if needed for extra help.

(I absolutely love roller skating.  I got the hang of it and was just skating all around, and I really didn't want Mom to take my picture. Haha!)

Emmersyn was loving every bit of it...so long as she had this skate mate!

Such a fun family night...enjoying the last few nights of summer before school starts again!  We sure love spending family time together, especially doing fun activities like this.  Thankful for another wonderful, fun summer together.

small group retreat

We love our small group families.  Each year, the adults go away for the weekend on a small group retreat and enjoy some time away together...playing games, laughing, community service, fun activities, and just hanging out together.  Daddy & Mommy always enjoy this trip.  This year, they headed up to Tennessee.  The house was at the top of the mountain (literally...what a drive!), but the view was well worth it.  On the drive up and down the mountains, they would also see a few black bears (😳)...one even right outside their home while heading to their cars for dinner!  Mommy only took just a few pictures.  But, it was a great weekend away, and we sure enjoyed our time at home with our second cousin, Patricia.

Daddy & Mommy...& the gorgeous view from their porch
All ready for dinner out
Just a "little" black bear walking down the road...
...& then they saw this huge black bear!  Wow.
One activity they did was an escape room...girls vs. boys...
...& the GIRLS won!!
Such a fun weekend away with lots of great memories and lots and lots of laughs.  Daddy & Mommy are so thankful for such wonderful friends.

vw family myrtle beach vacation

Every year, we get to go to Myrtle Beach with Mommy's side of the family, and we love it.  Lots of playing the sand, boogie boarding in the ocean, arcade games at the pier, annual shaving cream fight, and making memories together with family.  It's one of our favorite things to do each year.  This year, we added family olympics to our fun filled week.  Aunt Helen & Mommy were the designated captains this year, they "drafted" their teams before the trip (players had to volunteer to play & be 10 years and older), the games & players were decided before the trip...and then the games were played throughout the trip.  At the end of the week, points were tallied, and the winning team...Mommy's team (officially known as "Guns 'n Roses 😉).  It added even more fun to our week, and we had another wonderful week on our trip!

Mommy has this same picture of Stephanie & me for at least 5 years in a row, but we sure love playing in the sand together!
Brothers
Emmersyn sure loved when Daddy took her boogie boarding in the ocean...she rode so many waves in over and over again.
She LOVED it!
Me (Averie) - 12 years old
Brady - 10 years old
Brecken - 7 years old
Emmersyn - 4 years old
Fun with cousins
(Brady & me with Jackson & Stephanie)
One of the many Olympic events was corn hole.  Daddy is playing with 2nd cousin, Kyle.
Another day...another time of fun in the sun.
(*Well, sort of "sun"...it was pretty cloudy throughout the week, but we didn't mind it not being so scorching hot.)
We loved burying each other in the sand...or just playing in the sand.
(Brady & Brecken with Stephanie & Jackson)
Emmersyn loved being buried in the sand every day.
Cousins Emmersyn & Madison
What started as burying one niece in the sand ended up as Uncle Abe burying lots of nieces and nephews in the sand.  It's a lot of work, but he loved seeing them all so happy about it!
One day during our week, we have our annual shaving cream fight.  We all get cans of shaving cream (thanks to Aunt Cindi), and we run around the beach putting it all over each other...& ourselves.  It's so much fun!  Afterwards, we run into the ocean to rinse off.

I love it!
Brady has hated it every year (usually sitting under the umbrella refusing to participate), and this year, he gave it a try, and he loved it!!!
Brecken loves it, too!
Emmersyn wasn't quite sure at first, but then she loved it!
Most of the family participants...so fun!
(L-R: Zach, Uncle Art (for the 1st time, but not by choice...haha!), Sam, Brecken, Brady, Paul, Delaney (friend of Kaitlyn), Stephanie, Averie, Brayden, Jackson, Noah, Oma, Madison, Carter, Kaitlyn, Uncle Thomas, & Little T)

Another favorite thing for Brady & Daddy to do...throwing a football on the beach!
I loved riding in the waves as often as I could...
...& loved it!
I even brought Emmersyn out a few times.
She loved it, too!

All smiles riding the waves in...

Our Family
Myrtle Beach 2018

What a fun trip!
At the end of the week, the members of the winning team each received this Tervis tumbler as their "trophy."  (Mommy did receive a crown, too, for being the team captain as well...).  So, all in good fun, often times a winning team member would use his/her new cup in the first week following our victory, he/she would send a family text sharing the picture of the cup.  This lasted for a few days of fun and laughs...
...& this was the picture we received in a group text from one of the members from the losing team.
😂😂😂
(2018's Best picture in a text)
(Oh, and Brady was not drafted on the Guns 'n Roses Team...so, our family only has 3 of these winning cups.  Thankfully, we are nice enough to occasionally let him use the cup. 😉)
