Israel - Day 2

Holy Land Tour Day 2: Caesarea Philippi, Sea of Galilee, Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha (Seven Springs), Capernaum, & the Jordan River.  Another wonderful day with beautiful weather as we saw more of Israel & more of where Jesus walked.
In Caesarea Philippi, where we talked about Matthew 16.

From there, we headed to the Mount of the Beattitudes.
Mount of the Beattitudes with the Sea of Galilee behind us.

Another view...so beautiful.

God's handiwork is simply stunning.

...standing where it is recognized as the traditional site where Jesus taught the Sermon on the Mount. (Matthew 5-7)
From there, we headed to another view of the Sea of Galilee.  Here, we talked about Jesus walking on this water, Jesus calming the storms over this sea, & the disciples fishing many times in this water.
Making the Bible visually come to life.

Then, we headed to Tabgha, to the site where Jesus fed the 5,000.

After that quick stop & lunch, we headed to Capernaum, the place where Jesus spent a lot of his ministry, where Jesus called his disciples to be fishers of men, and where Simon Peter lived.
The "center" part of this circle is Simon Peter's home.
A synagogue...400 years after the life of Simon Peter.
After visiting Capernaum, we headed over to the Jordan River, where some of us chose to re-enact our baptism in the Jordan River, the same river that Jesus was also baptized in.  What a wonderful experience.

The gang ready to be baptized.

Was it cold?  Yes.  Freezing, actually.  But, was it worth it for the opportunity to be baptized in the same river as Jesus?  Absolutely.  Very thankful for the opportunity.

Another great day!
