Israel - Day 3

Holy Land Tour Day 3: Magdala, a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, museum, Gideon's Spring, & the view of the city of Jerusalem.

This is our view from our balcony of the 2nd hotel, the Sea of Galilee Hotel.
Our first stop was Magdala, the town where Mary Magdalene was from.
This is the remains of a synagogue in Magdala.
Joey & me in front of that synagogue.
Another view
This is the market of Magdala.

This is the House of Miqwa'ot...where a rich nobleman would have lived.  There were 4 purification baths these Jews would immerse themselves in to achieve purity.  Archeologists found some of these still intact.

One of the purification baths...with the archway still intact!
Another view of a purification bath...
Then, it was time to board the boat for ride on the Sea of Galilee. This was a fun time, but also a time of beautiful worship as we sang songs, had a devotional, and rode over the peaceful sea.

My friend, Kim, & I are ready.
Art & I taking a regular picture rather than photobombing other people's pictures.
On the sea...😍
The "VW Girls" on the sea...
...& then with the group.
Joey with some of the guys at the front of the boat.
A view on the Sea...looking back at the city...
...and then a view out at sea.  Beautiful.
While out on the Sea, Ronnie read through Matthew 8, and we sand some songs of worship.  We also just paused and thought about Jesus walking on this water & calming the storms of this Sea.  What it must have been like!
After the boat ride, we headed to a museum that had a 2,000 year old boat that had been found in the Sea of Galilee in 1986.  It took 10 years for the wood to dry out and preserve it.
Here is that boat!
Joey & I with the preserved boat.  Pretty cool to see that.
Time for lunch.  I was always happy they had pita & hummus...so yummy!!!
But, the fish...well, I was just thankful they had chicken as an option.  Look at how it is served.  So gross!! 😂
After lunch, we headed to Gideon's Spring.  Here is Gideon's Cave at the foot of Gilbo'a, where, according to the Bible, Gideon's soldiers were tried and selected for the war against the Midianites. (Judges 7)

Marci & me
Back on the bus for the ride to Jerusalem.  Made a pit stop for snacks, and our tour guide had us all try an Israeli snack, Bamba'a.  So yummy.  It tasted like peanut butter cheetos.
Arrived back in Jerusalem in time to take in a view of the city.  So cool!  If you look closely, you can see the original brick wall the surrounded the city of Jerusalem.  (It has grown/developed a lot since then.)
Marci & me...love her & our friendship.
Love him! 😍
Another wonderful day!
